5.00 (moderate) /anime & manga/ On hold. Contemplating dropping. Plot seems a bit overdone...?

10.00 (excellent) /manga/ Immensely popular in Japan, but why not in English-speaking countries? Awesome manga. Probably my #1 favorite ongoing shonen manga.

8.75 (very good) /manga & novel/ Very interesting and vibrant setting.

Kill la Kill

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Mar 23, 2014

5.50 (average) /anime/ At first the art direction was really interesting and overshadowed a lot of its problems, but once the novelty wore off, Kill la Kill turned into just another generic action ecchi series. Nothing really new here to see, and I have a variety of other problems with it. Not enjoying this, but, hey, at least there's Mako. Mako is the best.

6.75 (above average) /manga/ Dropped. I don't remember where I left off, so...

10.00 (excellent) /anime/ Great. Amazing. Awesome. Spectacular. A must see for those who love animes that make you think. I. Want. The. Novel.

Kobato

Last Updated: Mar 23, 2014

8.75 (very good) /manga/ A cute manga about a girl trying her best to help others. A bit cheesy at times, but seeing Kobato do her best always makes me want to do my best too.

Kuroko no Basket

5.00 (moderate) /manga/ Started out with an interesting premise but soon devolved into typical Shounen sports fluff.

Kuroshitsuji

6.50 (above average) /manga/ ...Plotless manga is never good, even if they do have great art.

Kyousogiga

10.00 (excellent) /anime/ One of the best, if not /the/ best anime to come out in recent memory. Everything about this series was perfect. I can't actually think of a single thing I disliked from it. It's everything I could have wanted from a series, and even some things I didn't even know I wanted. Absolutely wonderful.

Last Exile

9.50 (excellent) /anime/ Starts out slowly but eventually becomes something so engrossing and spectacular that I literally could not stop watching. Both the characters and the worldbuilding were absolutely amazing, and it's ending does not disappoint in the least. Now, the sequel, on the other hand...

8.00 (good) /manga/ It's pretty good.

Makai Ouji

Last Updated: Mar 23, 2014

7.50 (good) /manga & anime/ The anime was a terrible adaptation. Off-modeling was everywhere, and the pacing was changed for reasons I do not understand. The original manga itself is pretty generic with its premise, but the saving grace is that the art is really great so reading it was no hardship.

Matantei Loki Ragnarok

9.00 (very good) /manga/ I would have given this manga a perfect ten, if it wasn't for that travesty of an ending. One of the few times an ending has soured an entire series for me.

Mobile Suit Gundam SEED

7.75 (good) /manga/ Surprisingly good. It's actually worth reading, especially for some of the awesome tricks that Hime pulls. (The doppleganger arc is my personal favorite.)

Murder Princess

Nabari no Ou

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Oct 30, 2009

6.50 (above average) /manga/ Art is nice. Plot is interesting. But, it's pretty confusing at times and I find myself unable to follow some of the logic. I've contemplated dropping this more than once.

Nagi no Asukara

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Mar 23, 2014

5.00 (moderate) /anime/ I don't enjoy this at all. The love polygon mess is getting incredibly tiring, and the overt focus on romantic love as basically the most important aspect of human life is so, so grating. (The world might be ending! Your parents aren't even waking up! And all you guys care about is whether [insert person here] likes you back?! Talk about priorities.) The worldbuilding is also awful and so full of plotholes I can't even. The character interactions are decent, usually, but the setting just detracts so much from this series that I wish Mari Okada had simply made this a regular school life romance series. It would've been more honest that way, that's for sure.

Naruto

4.50 (moderate) /anime & manga/ Stop. Just. Stop.

Nobunaga the Fool

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Mar 23, 2014

1.25 (terrible) /anime/ Godawful. The heroine can literally be replaced with a sexy lamp, and the plot would still progress in the exact same way. The only redeeming feature of this whole waste-of-time is the soundtrack, and even that doesn't completely save it.

Noragami

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Mar 23, 2014

8.75 (very good) /anime & manga/ Bones really outdid themselves with the anime adaptation of this. It was absolutely wonderful, with some of the most creative aesthetics in anime I've seen in a long time. While not an entirely faithful adaptation, it certainly was a well-thought out one.

One Piece

3.50 (below average) /anime/ Concept that has been done to death and beyond.

Prince of Tennis

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Mar 06, 2012

6.00 (average) /manga/ For a manga all about tennis, it's far too contrived for my liking. (A vacuum that sucks in all tennis balls... seriously?) A good ride while it lasted, but the sequel is really pushing it.

Princess Ai

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Oct 30, 2009

3.50 (below average) /manga/ I honestly don't understand why Tokyopop is pushing so much Princess Ai junk.
